The nature of my life is changing, and it’s absolutely time for a writing blog. I had to look up what “blog” meant. It means a website written in an informal or conversational style. I bet I can manage that.
My name is Adam Brink, and I write hopeful, sometimes sexy nonsense, generally with a fantasy bent. This is what I like to write when I’m writing fiction. When we were children we thought the fantastic, the unreal or the magical might be around any given corner. We weren’t wrong; but the world fights against that idea, because fundamentally it leads us to ask the question –
“Can things be better than they are?”
And I don’t think I have to tell any of you that there are powers and people hard at work to drive into our heads, “No, this is as good as it gets, and you’re lucky to have this.” I’m not a super bright person, and couldn’t tell you how to fight that. Tooth and nail, I suppose. But what I do want, is to help you have a better train ride, reading one of my books. I want my books and novels and short stories to make you feel like there might still be magic around the next corner. I want my writing to make you feel, yes, a little sexy from time to time. I want to make you wonder, “Is my boss secretly an elf with an ear job?” Maybe they are. Maybe they aren’t. But isn’t “maybe” a whole lot nicer than “absolutely not”?
I think so.
Happy Writing,
Adam Brink
