Settling In For Spring

Whew! Just finished up the third of the three shows I had planned for late winter 2025. I went to Arisia, Boskone and Intercon and at all three I met a number of lovely people who were willing to take a chance on my books. Arisia bought eighty-four copies alone, which blew my mind. Boskone and Intercon were similarly generous, and Boskone even let me camp out at Author’s Alley for a Saturday. Fingers crossed I get to go to the Rising Phoenix convention in Marlborough, MA in April – I’ve sent an email, we’ll see what they say.

Of course for every wonderful set of people there are the usual suspects. One person asked me why I felt I could write about people who didn’t look like me while pointing at the posterboard of Terri from Sex Bunker Apocalypse I use to advertise (or warn people off). I didn’t have a great answer for that. A few people laughed, like usual. It’s a very silly premise, the SBA books! I laugh at it too from time to time. But having recently given them a read, I have to say they’re better than they have any right to be, and many of the people offering up reviews (and if you haven’t reviewed my books, go do it right now!) think they’re pretty good too.

London’s Calling has reached the hands of literally dozens of you! I hope you all enjoy it. It’s not got any spicy bits in it, I’m sorry to say. A great number of you asked if I were going to write any more spicy stuff. The answer is, “Absolutely” but I’m considering how to get it into my writing while also having time for new manuscripts and expanding the Nu-England world. I do want to revisit the Triad from the Sex Bunker trilogy at some point, of course, and there are other stories rattling around in my head that don’t have anything to do with Nu-England at all. If you have any good ideas, or things you want to see, feel free to drop me an email!

Speaking of ideas — whether they’re good is currently up for debate — I have finished another manuscript. It’s the second Nu-England novel, a sequel of sorts to London’s Calling. I’ve sent it out to a few beta readers but if you want to beta read, again, drop me a line, smoke signals, whatever suits your needs. I need to go through it this weekend and poke at it some more, but overall I think it works. 135k words in two months! This writing thing is no joke.

Next I think I might finally try and rework a story I had about dryads. It’s a Nu-England novel, too. But I have some real-world stuff rattling around in my brain too, and short stories, and all this other stuff. Writing right now is so wonderfully freeing and calming for me, especially given, well, everything. This manuscript I’ve just finished deals with some of what’s going on in the world. I don’t see how it could avoid it.

Oh, and there’s an audiobook! Sex Bunker Apocalypse has been given a voice, and it’s fantastic. You can find it wherever you can find Terri, which means Amazon, but also Audible and Apple. I hope you enjoy it, if you enjoy audiobooks and silly stories about getting stuck in an adult toy store.

More soon!

Happy Writing,

Adam Brink
